Who is she?

Alice Tovey is a comedian, cabaret artist, musical director, screenwriter, award winning film maker and purveyor of fine grot. They are a writer and associate producer on Gruen, Question Everything and The Weekly With Charlie Pickering at the ABC. They also have regular articles in The Guardian, Sydney Morning Herald, PedestrianTV and more. A true double threat, she holds a Bachelor of Classical Voice from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and a Master of Screenwriting from the Victorian College of the Arts.

Her inaugural comedy hour Malice earned her an Adelaide Fringe Award for Best Emerging Artist at the weekly awards. She has also been nominated for Greenroom Awards for Best Original Songs and Musical Direction.

Her short film Hen, starring Frankie McNair and Mish Wittrup won Best Victorian Short at Monster Fest 2022, and the film is now screening at festivals around Australia, the USA, and Europe.

Alice and her long time collaborator Ned Dixon have toured award winning shows to critical acclaim. Together, they premiered the first draft of their musical Besties as part of Midsumma’s QPAS program.

Alice lives in Sydney with her fat cat Hudson.
